Boeing Fire Department provides many services to the plant personnel and property. One of our main responsibilities consists of Aircraft Rescue Firefighting protection for the Chinook aircraft and any other aircraft that may operate at our location. All Boeing Philadelphia Firefighters are Nationally Certified as Aircraft Rescue Firefighters. As part of our daily activities we provide A.R.F.F. stand by and response to the aircraft during all of its test flights and operations as well as fire protection during fueling operations. During all aircraft incidents a crew of three is seated in the apparatus at an up hill, up wind position to the nose of the aircraft. The three firefighters are assigned to different riding positions which have a significant duty. The driver which is located in the middle of the apparatus is responsible for agent selection and application, he also controls the turrets and is the initial incident commander. The firefighter located to the left of the driver is the Rescue Firefighter and is responsible for the extrication of the flight crew and pilots. The firefighter to the right of the driver is the Fire Suppression Firefighter and is responsible for securing the aircraft and operating a hose line for firefighting purposes and securing a rescue path. Boeing Firefighters conduct daily training exercises including live burn scenarios, rescue tool training, driver/operator training, aircraft familiarization, table top exercises and multiple other training scenarios
